Remarks

The name Agave angustifolia can historically not clearly be derived. The entire complex is highly variable and should once be structured in subspecies

Agave panamana could be combined into this species. The cultivated species Agave cantala, Agave fourcroydes, and Agave tequilana were selected from the wild populations of Agave angustifolia
